As you might have noticed, I have been introducing each God as part of my regular blog posts each week. The artist (Filipe Ferreira), has been amazing to work with, and has produced top notch illustrations. I have also shown the artwork to other people and have received very good responses on it. We have completed all the God cards, tiles, and the board, and are working on the action cards. This will be the last major piece, at the end of which, we will be ready to assemble the prototypes.
I have been extensively play testing the game with my friends, specifically with a group of 16 people. Over the course of the last 4-5 months, through this play testing, we have identified and removed a lot of imbalances, adjusted mechanics, introduced new cards and actions, and even modified some of the game play to reduce the element of luck and increase strategic play. I am very thankful for these guys, who have play tested the game multiple times without losing their patience with me. Thanks to all their input, the last few times I have played with people unfamiliar with the game, I have received very positive reviews on it. My next big step is to lay all the game play out in a rule book to solicit feedback, and once the artwork gets closer to being done, create a print and play version to do blind play testing.
Prototypes and Next steps
Once the artwork and the play testing is complete (though I will probably never be done play testing!), I will then prototype the game to ensure everything looks good, in preparation for our Kickstarter. In parallel, I have worked with multiple vendors to identify who will be producing production quantities.
